Cheah Tek Soon (Xie Deshun|谢德顺)〔Also Cheah Teck Soon and Cheah Teik Soon.〕 was a 19th-century Penang businessman, and headman of the Hokkien in Penang,〔"The Excise Farms." The Straits Times 3 August 1900: 2. Print.〕 after whom Tek Soon Street was named. The Bandstand that existed near the Town Hall before the Japanese Occupation, was a gift from him.〔"Chinese Gifts To Penang."
